Radical Roots❤️✊📖Mary Carpenter
Mary Carpenter – English educator, reformer, writer, anti-slavery campaigner and suffragist, who brought education to Bristol’s poor children and young offenders.
Another year older.
Our Chapel opened for business in November 1752, now we are the oldest non-conformist chapel in Wakefield.
This Sunday is also the anniversary of the publication of Einstein’s theory of Special Relativity in 1905. Einstein’s work completely changed our view of the Universe.
Our own members, in a less public manner, challenged just about everything. The first Communist was our minister for a quarter of a century. We shall celebrate our anniversaries by looking at how entrenched thought has to be challenged if we are to progress as a society, and as a species.
That’s back to our usual time of 3.00pm, Sunday 21st November.
