The YUU Visits Hull

14 members of the Yorkshire Unitarian Union (YUU) meet up at Hull Unitarians  for a day of meetings and workshops.

Hull’s Interim Minister John Phillip Carter did a brief service on the benefit of meetings and community.

The rest of the morning was devoted to the annual general meeting and general business. Proceeding culminating with Jen Atkinson handing over the President’s badge of honour to Christine Dawson.

This then led to lunch and a fine spread produced by Helen and David, members of Hull Unitarians with a selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, pizzas and cakes.

The afternoon session was led by the special guest for the day Rory Castle Jones, Communications Officer at Unitarian HQ.

Rory facilitated a workshop on communication looking at websites, social media such as Facebook and Instagram and also there was some practical elements for the participants as they had to make up their own advertising ‘Tag Line’ and discuss whether Facebook was good or bad for congregations.

There are 9 chapels that make up the YUU and if you are passing you are more than welcome to pop in for a service and a cuppa.
