The Findhorn Unitarian Network meditation for August 2021
The Findhorn Unitarian Network meditation for August will invite you to reflect on a summer beach scene on the Holy Isle of Iona.
Iona is considered to be the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland. St Columba and 12 companions came to Iona from Ireland in AD 563. The monastery they founded was influential in the British Isles. In the tenth Century, after the Vikings repeatedly attacked the community, they retreated to the Isle of Kells. The Columba monks produced the magnificent Book of Kells.
Today, on Iona, there is a Christian monastery based around the Iona Abbey, a Catholic retreat hostel, a Buddhist retreat centre, and the Findhorn Foundation also has a retreat house known as Traigh Bhan.
The meditation is led by Ralph Catts, and is offered twice:
at 10:00 am on Saturday 21 August, and at 9:30 am on Tuesday 24 August.
