We will conduct the Act of Remembrance at 3pm on Thursday 11th November at The Old Chapel, Great Hucklow.
This will take place inside the garden in front of the Chapel (we may move inside if the weather is truly awful).
Everyone is welcome to attend – please gather at about 2.45pm as we will start promptly at 3pm. There will be a ringing of hand bells to mark the end of the one minutes silence that will be observed.
We have invited representatives from the School, Parish Council and others to lay wreaths. Anyone is most welcome to bring a cross or Poppy or appropriate form of tribute to plant in the grounds of the chapel.
As is traditional this will lead with red poppy wreaths and will be an inclusive service. Anyone who wishes to wear a red, purple, white or other poppy to reflect the diversity of conflict will be most welcome
There will be a roll call of those servicemen and women who are commemorated in the village and who served or were displaced in former conflicts.
If you wish to have the name of a friend, relative, ancestor or colleague included in this roll call then you must email in advance with at least their name, preferably their regiment or role and the conflict in which they served.
Please note that we are keen to have this as a service who reflects you and your family as well as the village and its story. Please do feel able to have your ancestors and friends included by sending in their names and details as above.
Thank you and we look forwards to welcoming you at 2.45pm for a prompt 3pm start.
It is anticipated that the service will take 30 minutes.
