FRIDAY LUNCHTIME CONCERT 26 June 2026 at 12.30p.m.

We are delighted to have a return performance by pianist Irene Palencia Mora, for a recital entitled Music and its Muses. Here is Irene’s description of the concert:
“Sing in me, Muse, and through me tell the story of that man,” began Homer in The Odyssey. The Muse told him everything, yet he took all the credit. Something similar happened with music—which is why we remember Felix Mendelssohn and not Fanny Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann and not Clara Schumann, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and not Nannerl Mozart.
But not anymore. The Muses awoke some time ago; now, wide awake, they are making noise, moving, and singing. And it is no longer just those who once whispered the stories, but also those who wrote them. With this concert, we honor these Muse-creators through music that tells the stories of the women who inspired it.
This will be another great opportunity to hear a young musician presenting a really interesting programme!
