Friday Lunchtime Concert – 3 April 2026
FRIDAY LUNCHTIME CONCERT 3 April 2026 at 12.30p.m.
Venue:- York Unitarian Church, St Saviourgate, York, YO1 8NQ
Unfortunately Hamish Brown is unable to perform on Friday 3rd April due to illness, we wish him a swift recovery!
I am very grateful to Shubhan Iyer, a pianist based in London, who at short notice is bringing us a concert of Amy Beach, Alexander Scriabin, Robert Schumann and Frederic Chopin.
He has an impressive biography, and since he is travelling from London it would be great if you could make it to his concert, and perhaps introduce a friend to this series!
Shubhan Iyer is a concert pianist, accompanist and educator based in London. He studied a Bachelor of Music at the University of Huddersfield with Sally Ann Macleod and Jonathan Fisher, finishing with a first-class honours and class valedictorian. Following a competitive auditioning process, he has also received offers to study at conservatoires in the UK, including Trinity Laban and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He also won a scholarship to study at Chetham’s International Piano Summer School, studying with concert pianists such as Pete Donohoe and Tessa Nicholson, and is a prize winner of the Craxton Memorial Trust in 2025. He currently studies with London based concert pianist Yuki Negishi.
As a pianist and recitalist, Shubhan has performed at various venues across the UK, including the Southbank Centre, Dartmouth House, Huddersfield Town Hall, St Stephen’s Walbrook, St Lawrence Jewry. He debuted as a soloist with the University of Huddersfield Chamber Orchestra in 2025 and has a busy season upcoming with recitals all over the UK.
A keen educator, Shubhan is now based in London where he divides his time between teaching and concertising, with a great passion for exploring more music in various contexts.
The concert starts at 12.30, admission is £8 cash only at the door with 60% of the proceeds going to the musician.
